Our Sheriff Department’s Main Purpose
County Sheriff
The primary function of the Edwards County Sheriff’s Office is to protect and serve the citizens of rural Edwards County as well as its 4 towns. The objective is completed through preventative patrol and investigatory methods. The Sheriff’s Office also cares for and maintains the Edwards County Jail which has a maximum capacity of 12 beds but do not usually have more than 9 inmates at a time.
The Sheriff’s Office has the responsibility to ensure “civil process” or summons, subpoenas, warrants, etc. are served to the proper individual in the most appropriate manner by law.
